A professional listener is someone you book to listen to you without judgement, advice or diagnosis. Unlike a counsellor, they don't treat mental health conditions. Their role is to give you full attention and a safe space to talk.
Sessions and booking
Free helplines such as Samaritans cost nothing. Private counselling is typically £40 to £80 or more per session. A You Have My Ear session costs £25 for 30 minutes or £40 for 60 minutes, with packages from £32 per hour.
Privacy and safety
Yes. What you share stays private. The only exception is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, when I may need to contact emergency services.
Loneliness
Start small: message one old friend, join a local group or class, or call a free helpline if you need to talk now. If you'd like a regular conversation with the same person, a listening session can bridge the gap.
